COLD SOAK | HEAVY DUTY CARBON AND PAINT REMOVER

COLD SOAK is a Heavy Duty Carbon and Paint Remover, which are designed to remove oil, grease, soft carbon and combustion sludge from engine parts and painted metal components at room temperature. It is highly effective for removing paint layers from metal surfaces on diesel pumps, carburettors, paint line conveyer hooks, and a multitude of items irrespective of the type of metal. COLD SOAK is safe on all metals whether ferrous or non-ferrous. Cold Soak is intended to be used in a soak tank application but may be used by circulation in situations such as oil coolers where there is a build-up of carbonised oil on the insides of the tubes. It is effective at room temperature and should not be heated. It has a corrosion retarding seal which also reduces loss by evaporation or drag out. COLD SOAK is a ready to use product which is intended to be used in a soak tank application. It must not be agitated or heated. It is a two-phase product and if only a portion of the can is to be decanted, it should be shaken very well to mix the phases together before decanting immediately. COLD SOAK should be used in a metal tank preferably with a wire mesh basket in which to place the items to be cleaned. The articles to be cleaned should be pre-cleaned if possible of any excess oil or grease to reduce the amount of dirt entering the tank. This pre-cleaning will lengthen the baths life. The tank should be kept in a cool area to avoid excessive evaporation. A lid on the tank will also help. Where evaporation causes a reduction of the seal the regular addition of water to replace or maintain the seal is essential. The seal should be maintained at a depth sufficient to avoid evaporation of the lower phase. Remember that only the lower phase will do the cleaning.

Health & Safety
COLD SOAK contains chlorinated hydrocarbons. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes or clothing. In the case of accidental contact wash the affected area with a large volume of water. For eye contact or if swallowed obtain medical assistance immediately. Use full protective clothing, gloves, apron, and rubber boots and face shield. Remember to add water to the seal to prevent evaporation.

Application (How To Use)
It must not be agitated or heated. It is a two-phase product and if only a portion of the can is to be decanted, it should be shaken very well to mix the phases together before decanting immediately. Should be used in a metal tank preferably with a wire mesh basket in which to place the items to be cleaned. The seal should be maintained at a depth sufficient to avoid evaporation of the lower phase.Remember that only the lower phase will do the cleaning. Disassemble all parts and remove any gaskets, rubber or other non-metal parts. Remove or drain off any excess oil or dirt. Lower the parts into COLD SOAK and ensure they are below the seal level and that no air is trapped inside. The parts should be in a basket or tied to a piece of wire to allow for easy removal from the tank when clean.Immersion time is 15 to 40 minutes or longer depending on the type and amount of soil to be removed. Once the parts are clean remove them allowing as much as possible of the COLDSOAK to drain back into the tank. Rinse the parts off under a stream of water preferably under pressure. For mild steel or iron parts a coating of light oil or diesel is recommended to avoid flash rust as the parts, once cleaned, will be completely without protection. Where the situation allows, it can be economical to operate a two-tank system. The first tank acts as a pre-cleaner and thus prevents the second tank from becoming excessively dirty too soon. When the second tank has done its work and is no longer cleaning fast enough, dump the first tank and the second tank now becomes the pre-cleaner with the other being refilled with fresh COLD SOAK. COLD SOAK is generally used for removing carbon, crankcase sludge, and lacquer and blow-by solids from engine parts. It is also extremely effective in stripping general paint finishes from conveyor hooks, paint screens and paint rejects. A special application is the cleaning of steel moulds used to mould rubber parts.
